The Rural Health and Safety Education Competitive Grants Program provides funding to community-based, outreach education and extension programs that provide individuals and families based in rural areas with information on health, wellness, and prevention.
Programs should provide individuals and families with:
Applications may be submitted by Land-grant colleges and universities that are eligible to receive funds under the Act of July 2, 1862 (7 U.S.C. 301 et seq.), and the Act of August 30, 1890 (7 U.S.C. 321 et seq.), including Tuskegee University, West Virginia State University and the University of the District of Columbia.
Applications may be submitted by any of the Tribal colleges and universities designated as 1994 Land-Grant Institutions under the Educational Land-Grant Status Act of 1994, as amended.
Total Funding Available: $1,300,000
Approximately $1.25 million will be available to support new State or Regional Rural Health and Safety Education projects. The remainder of the funds, approximately $50,000, will be used to support a national project focused specifically on identifying common measures for individual and family health education programs from a FCS/Human Sciences perspective
