The National Health Service Corps Scholarship Program awards scholarships students who are pursuing one of the following degrees:

  • Medicine (MD or DO)
  • Dentistry (DDS or DMD)
  • Nurse Practitioner
  • Certified Nurse Midwife
  • Physician Assistant

Scholarship recipients must commit to providing primary care health services at a Health Professional Shortage Area upon completion of their degrees. Recipients are expected to provide one year of service for each year of the scholarship.


Students pursuing eligible disciplines must also be a:

  • U.S. citizen or national
  • Full-time student at an accredited school
Amount of

The scholarship pays for tuition and education-related expenses and also provides a monthly stipend for living expenses in exchange for a minimum of two years of full-time service at an NHSC-approved site in a HPSA, maximum of four years.
