Purpose

Atherton Family Foundation Grants provide funding for projects and programs in Hawaii in the following areas:

  • Arts, culture, and humanities
  • Community development
  • Education
  • Environment
  • Health
  • Human services
  • Spiritual development
  • Youth development

Among other things, past grants have included capital funding for healthcare organizations, schools, and human service organizations.

Eligibility

Applicants must be nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations in Hawaii or apply through a fiscal sponsor with a 501(c)(3) status.

Amount of funding

The maximum grant for major capital projects will be $200,000, normally paid out over 3 years. The average annual award is around $19,000.

Application process

Applications must be submitted through the Hawaii Community Foundation online application portal.

Applications are accepted throughout the year and reviewed quarterly. Large capital requests are only accepted in July to be reviewed at the September Board of Directors meeting.
