The Massachusetts Department of Public Health is looking for three pilot sites - one rural, one tribal, and one correctional - to participate in a demonstration project. Pilot sites would participate in the National Sexual Assault TeleNursing Center that will use telemedicine technology to provide access to Massachusetts Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (MA SANEs) expert guidance and support in remote and underserved areas.
Expert MA SANEs will help guide pilot site clinicians to provide post-assault care to adults and adolescents (12 years and older) including a quality forensic examination and forensic evidence collection. TeleNursing Center staff is committed to offering customized guidance and support to adapt to the unique needs of each facility, agency or community.
Pilot sites will be expected to participate in a highly collaborative, engaged, and responsive process geared at advancing forensic nursing practice and survivor advocacy efforts on a national level.
To be eligible for participation in the National TeleNursing Center, pilot sites must:
|Each pilot site will receive approximately $75,000 per year over the duration of the project. Staff at the pilot sites will use grant funds to select or hire a part-time Clinical Liaison and a part time Technology Liaison. Telemedicine equipment will be provided to each pilot site.|
