Purpose

APhA Foundation Incentive Grants offer pharmacists seed money to implement or support an innovative patient care service within their pharmacy practice. Grants focus on ambulatory pharmacy-based innovation.

The 2023 application cycle offers 3 types of grants.

Residents and their Preceptors Incentive Grant - Preference will be given to projects with a focus in:

  • Social determinants of health
  • Access and pharmacy deserts
  • Mental and behavioral health
  • Diabetes care
  • Cardiovascular care
  • Pain management
  • Substance use disorder
  • Pharmacy workplace conditions
  • Patient care service implementation
  • Pharmacogenomics
  • COVID-19 pharmacotherapy
  • Pharmacist-patient communication
  • Public profession perception of patient care services

Innovation in Immunization Practices Incentive Grant - Focus areas include:

  • Enhancing COVID-19 vaccine confidence among patients
  • Increasing access to/uptake of COVID-19 vaccines within identified populations: adolescents, underserved or minority populations, rural areas
  • Optimizing engagement of pharmacy team members in the provision of immunization-related services
  • Development of referral mechanisms for immunization services within the community, and strengthening the immunization neighborhood
  • Advance usage of Immunization Information System (IIS) for immunization assessment and enhanced immunization delivery methods
  • Increasing vaccination rates by patient population (pregnant patients, college students, children)
  • Increasing access to and administration of HPV vaccines
  • Implementation of new ACIP recommendations in pharmacy practice
  • Childhood/adolescent vaccinations and vaccine services
  • Addressing vaccine access and pharmacy deserts

COVID-19 Vaccine Confidence Incentive Grant - Focus areas include:

  • COVID-19 vaccine confidence for children 5 years old and younger
  • Health equity regarding vaccination

Pharmacists, students, and community pharmacy residents that are active members of APhA.

Amount of funding

Award amounts for each grant type are as follows:

  • $1,000 for Residents and their Preceptors Incentive Grants
  • $1,000 for Innovation in Immunization Practices Incentive Grants
  • $4,000 for COVID-19 Vaccine Confidence Incentive Grants
