Purpose

The Rural Access to Anesthesia Care Scholarship provides stipend scholarships for medical students to complete a rural rotation designed to teach future physicians about anesthesia in rural areas. Applicants will work with a mentor at a designated rural site.

Eligibility

Applicants must be a third or fourth year medical student in an approved U.S. program and a medical student member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA).

Students will receive a stipend up to $500 to pay for travel and lodging expenses.

Application process

Begin the application process by contacting one of the mentors listed on the program website to discuss interest in the scholarship.

Applications may be submitted throughout the year based on this schedule:

  • By January 1 for a March 1 or later rotation
  • By April 1 for a June 1 or later rotation
  • By July 1 for a September 1 or later rotation
  • By October 1 for a December 1 or later rotation
