Purpose

The Ohio Dentist Loan Repayment Program (ODLRP) and Dental Hygienist Loan Repayment Program (ODHLRP) offers loan repayment to general and pediatric dentists and dental hygienists who agree to work in federal- or state-designated dental health professional shortage areas in Ohio.

Applicants must provide services to Medicaid-eligible people regardless of their ability to pay.

Eligibility

Applicants must be dental students in the final year of dental or dental hygiene school, dental residents in the final year of residency, or currently practicing general or pediatric dentists and dental hygienists. Clinicians must provide dental services in dental practice sites located in underserved areas.

Applicants may receive up to $25,000 per year for an initial 2-year contract and up to $35,000 for third and fourth years.
