Purpose

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Pioneer Portfolio accepts unsolicited proposals for projects that pursue innovative approaches to solving problems in health and healthcare.

Focus areas include:

  1. Future of Evidence
  2. Future of Social Interaction
  3. Future of Food
  4. Future of Work
  5. Open Exploration for ideas that fall outside of the focus areas but which offer unique approaches to advancing health equity and progress toward a Culture of Health
Eligibility

Preference is given to applicants that are nonprofit organizations with 501(c)(3) status that are not private foundations or Type III supporting organizations.

Amounts awarded and time periods vary widely and depend on the scope of the project. Project periods generally range from 1-3 years.
