Purpose First Children's Finance makes loans to child care and early education businesses, especially those serving lower-income communities, in Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, South Dakota and Texas. FCF finances new businesses - in centers, family child care homes and schools (including Head Start) - and supports expansion, quality improvements and operations for existing ones. Loans may be used to expand or start child care and early education businesses—in homes, centers and schools; improve the quality of facilities—new buildings, additions, remodeling and upgrades; purchase supplies and equipment—toys, computers, playgrounds, child-friendly furnishings; fulfill licensing requirements—egress windows, fences, bathrooms; help manage cash flow; strengthen and grow child care businesses.
