| Purpose |
The Office of Rural Community Affairs’ (ORCA) announces the availability of FY 2010 funding for rural public and non-profit hospitals to make capital improvements to existing facilities, construct new health facilities and to purchase capital equipment. |
| Eligibility |
Eligible applicants include rural public and non-profit hospitals as defined below:
(1) "Public hospital" means a general or special hospital licensed under Chapter 241, Health and Safety Code, that is owned or operated by a municipality, county, municipality and county, hospital district, or hospital authority and that performs inpatient or outpatient services.
(2) "Rural County" means a county that has a population of 150,000 or less.
Hospitals that received funds through the Rural Health Facility Capital Improvement Loan Fund for FY 2009 will be ineligible to apply for funds in FY 2010. |

funding |
Grant funds of up to $50,000 each are available for projects. A match is required. ORCA estimates that approximately 40 awards will be made depending upon the availability of funds. A 10% match is required. If a facility can show hardship in meeting the match, ORCA has the right to waive the matching funds requirement. |
