| Purpose |
Loans and grants are available to low-income applicants to remove health or safety hazards and/or improve or modernize their home.
Examples of covered items include; repair or replace water supply and sewer systems, heating systems, electrical wiring, foundations, deteriorating roof, insulation, etc.
The program targets homeowners who are unable to pay for, or arrange for credit to cover, necessary repairs.
These grants require no repayment. However, available funds are limited. The funds are committed to individuals within a short period of the beginning of the program’s fiscal year in October. Those whose repairs do not require immediate action should ask to have their project placed on the program’s waiting list.
Loans may be used to remove health or safety hazards and/or to improve the owner’s home. Maximum loan availability is $20,000. The interest rate charged is 1% with a maximum term of 20 years to repay the loan. |
