Brookdale Leadership in Aging Fellowship Program

Purpose Fellowship program to encourage the emerging leaders in the field of aging. They seek applications from a broad range of disciplines related to the field of aging including, but not limited to, the medical, biological and basic sciences, nursing, social sciences, the arts, and humanities.
Eligibility Each candidate must: (1) Demonstrate leadership potential; (2) Provide evidence of an ongoing commitment to a career in aging; (3) Have a mentor (or mentors) willing and able to provide meaningful professional guidance to the candidate; (4) Agree to commit at least 75% of his or her time for career development during each of the two years of the Fellowship; and (5) Propose a project related to the field of aging that will contribute to the candidates career development and also serve to enhance his or her leadership skills. Candidates should be between the first and tenth years of their graduate degree (see guidelines regarding possible exceptions).

funding
The award* is a two-year grant paid to the candidate’s sponsoring institution in support of the candidate’s research project. A grant award of up to $125,000 each year is intended to cover 75% of the Fellow’s time, base salary and fringe benefits. If necessary, a portion of the award could be used to include the support of a graduate assistant as long as the total amount does not exceed $125,000.
