Deadlines August 26, 2009
Purpose Active Living Research announces the third annual Translating Research to Policy Award to recognize innovative teams or individuals representing research, policy and/or advocacy who have had success in catalyzing policy or environmental change of relevance to youth physical activity, sedentary behavior and obesity prevention.

This national award will be given by Active Living Research to an individual or a team consisting of a researcher and a policy-maker, decision-maker, or advocate, who has collectively used research to inform, stimulate, or contribute to policy or practice change.

Eligibility The translational efforts described must cover efforts based in the United States. Researchers can represent any discipline (e.g., transportation, urban planning, public health, education, behavioral science, recreation and parks, environmental psychology or economics) or sector (i.e., public or private). “Policy-maker” is defined broadly to include elected or appointed officials, government employees, advisory boards, school officials, corporate leaders or others involved in decision-making that could affect active living for a large group of people. Individual advocates and community advocacy organizations also are encouraged to apply. Nominees do not have to be Robert Wood Johnson Foundation grantees, nor do they have to demonstrate they have used research funded by the Active Living Research program. Employees of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Active Living Research national program office and their immediate family members are not eligible. Self-nominations are welcome.
