Deadlines June 1, 2010
Purpose The Iowa Department of Public Health Bureau of EMS is seeking applications from individuals who are interested in receiving initial EMS education. The individuals will provide needed staffing for underserved areas of EMS service delivery in the state of Iowa.
Eligibility Eligible applicants must:
  • Be at least 17 years of age at the time of application
  • Have a high school diploma or its equivalent
  • Be able to speak, write and read English
  • Hold a current course completion card in CPR
  • Be currently certified, as a minimum, as an EMT-B, if enrolling in an EMT-1, EMT-P, or PS course

    Applicants may apply for up to $4,500. The source of funding is $200,000 of EMS funds. Actual total awards and individual contract funding levels may vary from that listed or funding may be withdrawn completely, depending on the availability of funds.

    The application is available on the Program web site.

    Applications will be accepted beginning August 26, 2009 and continue until the closing deadline of June 1, 2010, or until all program funding has been awarded. Applicants are encouraged to apply early but may submit their application during the August 26, 2009 – June 1, 2010 time period.
