| Purpose |
The Health Impact Project, a collaboration of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and The Pew Charitable Trusts, is a national initiative designed to promote the use of health impact assessments (HIAs) as a decision-making tool for policymakers. HIAs are a flexible, data-driven approach that identify the health consequences of new policies and develop practical strategies to enhance their health benefits and minimize adverse effects. |
| Eligibility |
Eligible institutions include state, tribal or local agencies; tax-exempt educational institutions; non-profit organizations (organizations that are exempt from federal income tax as an organization described by Section 501(c)(3) of the IRS code). Institutions must be located in the United States or its territories to be eligible for a grant under this program. |

Up to 15 HIA demonstrations at the local, state and tribal levels. Grants will range from between $25,000 and $150,000 each. |
Application
process |
After reviewing the application process information, visit the online application system to begin.
There are two stages in the competitive proposal process: (1) applicant organizations submit a letter of interest that describes the project and; if invited, (2) select applicant organizations will then submit a full proposal, budget, budget narrative and organizational documents for review.
There is no deadline to submit a letter of interest, they will accept applications on a rolling basis until all grant funds are committed.
Applicants are invited to join the Health Impact Project on November 5, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. (ET) for an informational web conference. Registration is required. Interested applicants will have an opportunity to ask questions during the call. This conference will be recorded and archived on this Web page. |
