Workforce Opportunity for Rural Communities (WORC): Grant Initiative for the Appalachian, Delta, and Northern Border Regions
Grants for projects in the Appalachian, Lower Mississippi Delta, and Northern Border regions that will provide career, training, and support services to eligible individuals in counties and parishes and/or areas currently underserved by other resources. Grants will support workforce development activities that prepare dislocated workers, new entrants to the workforce, and incumbent workers for good jobs in high-demand occupations aligned with a regional or community economic development strategy. High demand industries include manufacturing, IT, healthcare, and energy.

Stand Down Grants
Provides funding for events that offer homeless veteran populations a variety of social services designed to help them to reintegrate into their communities, such as housing, healthcare, and employment opportunities.

YouthBuild Grants Inactive
Grants to organizations providing pre-apprenticeship services that support education, occupational skills training, and employment services for at-risk youth, ages 16 to 24, while performing meaningful work and service to their communities. The YouthBuild program model contains wrap-around services such as mentoring, trauma-informed care, personal counseling, transportation support, and employment. Applications from rural, urban, and Native American organizations are encouraged.

Brookwood-Sago Mine Safety Grants Inactive
Grants for education and training programs to help identify, avoid, and prevent unsafe working conditions in and around mines. Special emphasis is given to programs and materials that target workers at smaller mines, including training miners and employers about new MSHA standards, high-risk activities, or hazards identified by MSHA.

Mine Health and Safety Grants Inactive
Grants to prevent fatalities, disease, and injury from mining and secure safe and healthy working conditions for miners through laws, regulations, safety improvements, education, and training.

Department Of Labor Nursing Expansion Grant Program Inactive
Funding to address obstacles to training the nursing workforce and to expand and diversify the pipeline of qualified nursing professionals who can fill jobs in healthcare. Individuals in rural communities are one of the priority populations.

Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act Indian and Native American Program - Employment and Training Grants Inactive
Grants to support employment and training activities for Native Americans in the areas of healthcare, manufacturing, IT, energy, and other industries.

H-1B Rural Healthcare Grant Program Inactive
Grants to partnerships of public and private sector entities to increase the number of individuals training in healthcare occupations that directly impact patient care and to alleviate healthcare workforce shortages by creating sustainable employment and training programs in healthcare occupations (including behavioral and mental healthcare) serving rural populations.

Support to Communities: Fostering Opioid Recovery Through Workforce Development Grant Program Inactive
Funding for state workforce agencies to partner with community organizations on projects that address the economic and workforce effects of substance and opioid misuse in significantly impacted service areas.
