Rural Health Research Centers

The Rural Health Research Centers are designed to help policy makers better understand the problems that rural communities face in assuring access to health care for their residents. The Centers' research findings inform a wide audience of national, state, and local decision-makers concerned with rural health.

Maine Rural Health Research Center (MRHC)
One of seven Rural Health Research Centers currently funded by the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy. Works to inform healthcare policymaking and the delivery of rural health services, focusing on rural healthcare financing and system reform, rural long term care, and rural mental health.

North Carolina Rural Health Research Program (NC RHRP)
One of seven Rural Health Research Centers currently funded by the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy. Works to identify rural health problems through policy-relevant analyses, geographic and graphical presentation of data, and information dissemination. Focuses on federal insurance programs and healthcare delivery organizations and access.

One of seven Rural Health Research Centers funded by the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy. A consortium of the University of North Dakota Center for Rural Health and NORC Walsh Center for Rural Health Analysis. Examines issues and topics primarily related to the rural implications of health reform legislation, in particular frontier health services and systems.
