2009-2010 Rural Dentist Incentive Program Grants
To assist dentists in repaying educational loans in order that they may practice in a Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA) or serve as full-time faculty at the MUSC College of Dental Medicine, without the financial burden of unpaid educational loans.

Appalachian Regional Commission Substance Abuse Grants
Grants to assist communities in building sustainable capacity to provide for improved community interventions and services addressing issues of illegal drugs and prescription drug abuse.

Family Professional Partnerships/CSHCN-Family Opportunity Act
Grants will fund state-wide, family-run centers providing information, education, technical assistance and peer support to families of Children with Special Health Care Needs.

Gannett Foundation Community Action Grants
Provides grants in communities where the Gannett Company has a presence.

HIV Emergency Relief Project Grants for New Transitional Areas
Funds to provide direct financial assistance to transitional areas that have been severely affected by the HIV epidemic.

Johnson & Johnson Community Health Care Program
Funding to assist community-based, non-profit organizations whose primary goal is to provide creative and effective access to quality health care for the medically underserved.

Journalism Contest
The winner of the 2009 Journalism Contest receives a four-year scholarship to the South Carolina state-supported institution of his or her choice.

Senior Medicare Patrol Projects
Grants for model projects that demonstrate effective ways of utilizing retired persons as volunteer expert resources and educators in community efforts to combat health care error, fraud and abuse in the Medicare/Medicaid programs.

South Carolina Hospital Association Scholars Program 2009
An 8-10 week paid summer practicum consisting of a preceptor-supervised clinical nursing experience to out of state nursing students.

Sustainable Community Innovation Grants Program
Funds projects that work to strengthen both agriculture and Southern communities by building explicit linkages between sustainable agriculture and rural community development.

UnitedHealth HEROES Service Learning Grants
Funding to support youth-led projects that address childhood obesity.
