Wellness is an active, lifelong process of becoming aware of choices and making decisions toward a more balanced and fulfilling life. Healthy People 2020 is a national agenda for reducing the most significant preventable threats to health. The goals of Healthy People 2020 include:

  • Attain high-quality, longer lives free of preventable disease, disability, injury and premature death
  • Achieve health equity, eliminate disparities and improve the health of all groups
  • Create social and physical environments that promote good health for all
  • Promote quality of life, healthy development and healthy behaviors across all life stages

The last rural healthy people document was the Rural Healthy People 2010 which focuses on the health challenges faced by rural Americans.

National Diabetes Education Program (NDEP)

Physical Activity and Healthy Eating for Rural Young and Adult Women

Healthy New Year Challenge
An open call for people nationwide to create and submit short videos that capture New Year's resolutions geared towards improving their health or the health of a loved one through the use of technology.

Humana Foundation Community Grants
The Humana Foundation supports charitable activities that promote healthy lives and communities.

Regional Community Health Grants Program
This program provides funding focused on reducing disparities in health care among racial and ethnic populations in eligible geographic areas.

Ribbon of Hope Mini-Grants Program
Supports activities that establish or expand local programs in health, science, and education that serve identified needs of local communities.

Wal-Mart National Giving Program
