Purpose

The Summer Health Care Intern Program brings students and healthcare employers together, giving students experience in a healthcare environment and employers the opportunity to connect with future healthcare professionals and become more involved in their community.

Participating hospitals, medical clinics, nursing facilities, home care providers employ students for 6-12 weeks between May 27 and September 2, 2024.

Eligibility

Internship providers may be hospitals, clinics, nursing facilities, and home care providers.

Interns may be high-school juniors or seniors and post-secondary students enrolled in a Minnesota educational institution (or Minnesota residents enrolled in an out-of-state program) are eligible. Post-secondary students must be enrolled, or plan to be enrolled, in a two- or four-year healthcare degree program, with the intention of completing the program.

Priority will be given to sites seeking to recruit interns from underrepresented backgrounds.

Amount of funding

Interns will be paid at least minimum wage and up to half of the intern's total hourly wages will be reimbursed to the internship site.
