Purpose

Community Innovation Grants awards funding to nonprofits working to create effective, equitable, and sustainable changes in communities. Although limitations aren't put on the types of projects, at least 50% of Community Innovation grants will be awarded to projects that address racial and economic disparities.

Examples of past projects include:

  • Funds were awarded to the First Children's Finance Fund which address rural child care issues
  • Funds were awarded to the Northfield Healthy Community Initiative which is designed to achieve community-level change for children and youth
  • Funds were awarded to Renewing the Countryside II which works to strengthen local food systems in rural areas
  • Funds were awarded to the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe for culturally competent health and wellness programs targeted for tribe members
  • Funds were awarded to Men as Peacemakers which engages men with women in preventing violence and promoting equity
Eligibility

501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations and government units are eligible.
