Purpose

Grants to promote economic prosperity in Maryland's disadvantaged and underserved rural communities.

Priority will be given to proposals that address:

Eligibility

Eligible applicants are local governments, institutions of higher education, regional councils, and nonprofit organizations that serve a regional or statewide rural constituency, such as community colleges, career technology centers, regional councils, and libraries.

Federally Qualified Health Centers, Area Health Education Centers, local health clinics, and other rural-serving health organizations are eligible for rural healthcare grants.

To be eligible, projects must serve more than one rural county in Maryland.

Amount of funding

There is no maximum award amount for the Rural Healthcare, Infrastructure, and Entrepreneurship focus areas and matching funds are required. Each Regional Council is eligible to receive up to $600,000.

Estimated total program funding: $7,500,000

Submit a letter of intent using the online application portal by May 17, 2024. Selected applicants will be invited to submit a Phase 2 full proposal, with a deadline of July 12, 2024.
