Pipeline Program Dual Training Grants provide funding for employers in Minnesota to cover the costs of degree, certificate, and/or recognized credential programs for their permanent employees who are seeking training in high-need industries and occupations.
Funded dual training programs must:
- Involve student/employees who are employed and physically work at a permanent work location within Minnesota
- Meet competency standards through means of on-the-job training by the employer and related instruction by a qualified training provider
- Be instructor-led for a majority of the training period
- Result in student/employee earning an industry-recognized degree, certificate, or credential upon successful completion of the dual training program
Eligible occupation training programs in the healthcare services industry include:
- Certified nursing assistant
- Community health worker
- Community paramedic
- Critical care nurse
- Dental assistant
- Dental hygienist
- Dental therapist
- Dentist
- Electronic health records specialist
- Emergency medical technician (EMT) to paramedic pathway
- Emergency room nurse
- Health support specialist
- Histology technician/technologist
- Licensed alcohol and drug counselor
- Licensed independent clinical social worker
- Licensed practical nurse
- Long-term care facility culinary manager
- Medical assistant
- Medical laboratory assistant
- Medical laboratory scientist
- Medical laboratory technician
- Occupational therapist
- Ophthalmic technician
- Pharmacy technician
- Phlebotomist
- Physical therapy assistant
- Positive support analyst
- Positive support specialist
- Psychiatric/mental health technician inpatient or outpatient
- Radiologic technologist
- Registered nurse
- Respiratory therapist
- Surgical technologist
- Wound, ostomy, and continence nurse (WOC)
Other eligible industries include:
- Advanced manufacturing
- Agriculture
- Information technology
Per statute, Dual Training Grant funds are required to be disbursed proportionally throughout the state of Minnesota. Many rural businesses have applied for and been awarded funds.
Eligible applicants are employers or organizations of employers that are able to work with the Minnesota Pipeline program to offer dual training programs where employees receive on-the-job training and qualified related instruction.
Eligible organizations include for-profit organizations; non-governmental organizations; county, city, town governments; Minnesota state colleges and universities; school districts; state agencies; and tribal sovereign nations.
Priority is given to previous grantees with continuing dual-trainee populations as a means to support the completion of eligible degrees, certificates, and credentials.
Award ceiling: $150,000 per applicant
and $6,000 per student/employee
Estimated total program funding:
$3,219,000
If annual gross revenue exceeded $25,000,000 in the previous calendar year, 25% of related instruction costs must be covered by the grantee.
