Purpose

This program provides grants to healthcare consortia to design and implement education and training programs for critical allied health positions in rural areas of Wisconsin.

Education and training programs for allied health occupations range from short certificate programs to Master degree programs. Grants may support programs along this continuum, although priority may be given to shorter-term training that allows newly qualified professionals to enter the workforce quickly. A list eligible allied health professions is available in Appendix A of the program guidance.

Priority will be given to partnerships serving communities with populations of less than 20,000.

Based on high need, the following allied health professions will receive priority consideration:

  • Behavioral health specialists and technicians
  • Mental health counselors and assistants
  • Psychiatric aides and technicians
  • Substance abuse counselors and counselors-in-training
Eligibility

Eligible applicants are hospitals, clinics, health systems, and educational entities located in Wisconsin.

Applicants must form a partnership or consortium with a minimum of one health system and one educational provider

Award ceiling: Up to $125,000 per year
Project period: 1 to 2 years, depending upon the length of required training for the targeted allied health occupation(s)

A 100% match in cash or in-kind services is required.
