Purpose

The Union Pacific Foundation Local Grants Program provides funding to nonprofit organizations for direct services and capacity building efforts to help the economic and community well-being of communities served by Union Pacific. Grants aim to support programs and organizations working advance the diversity, equity, and inclusion of underserved populations within a local context. Rural communities are a priority.

Focus areas include:

  • Safety
  • Workforce development
  • Community vitality
  • Environmental sustainability
Eligibility

Eligible applicants are 501 (c)(3) nonprofit, charitable organizations that are designated as 509(a)(1) or 509(a)(2) and that are located in and provide services that primarily benefit a community served by Union Pacific.

Amount of funding

Awards typically range from $5,000 - $30,000, for a one-year project period.
