Purpose

The American College of Surgeons Nizar N. Oweida, MD, FACS, Scholarship will provide an award to surgeons in small towns or rural communities in the United States or Canada. Funding may be used for:

Eligibility

Eligible applicants are American College of Surgeons (ACS) members in any surgical specialty who meet the following requirements:

  • Is a Fellow or Associate Fellow under age 55 on the date the application is filed
  • Is serving a small town or rural community in the United States or Canada
Geographic coverage
Nationwide
Amount of funding

$5,000, to be used to defray expenses for attendance at the Clinical Congress or for an approved training or research opportunity. Cost categories include travel expenses, lodging and per diem, registration, and course fees.
