Purpose

The Midwestern Public Health Training Center offer a field placement program designed for students in the midwestern region to participate in experiential learning in a public health setting.

The purpose of the program is to assist with field placement projects of individuals in the following categories:

  • Graduate and doctoral students pursuing a degree in a health profession, such as public health, psychology, sociology, and social work
  • Undergraduate juniors or seniors enrolled in a health profession degree program
  • Preventive Medicine Resident (PMR) placed at state or local health departments
  • Tribal College or University (TCU) students enrolled in a health profession degree program including allied health and community health worker

Eligibility

Eligibility criteria:

  • Currently enrolled in a health science academic program in Region 7 (Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska)
  • U.S. citizens, nationals, or permanent residents of the United States
  • Preference will be given to students doing their field placement projects in rural and/or medically underserved communities
Geographic coverage
HHS Region 7 which includes Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska
Amount of funding

Award ceiling: $3,500 stipend
Estimated number of awards: At least 25, with a minimum of 5 per state
