Purpose

The Michigan Behavioral Health Loan Repayment Program (BHLRP) is a medical education debt repayment program for healthcare providers to practice in underserved areas in Michigan. Eligible providers will receive student loan repayment for providing mental health services in eligible nonprofit practice sites or public school-based systems for at least 2 years.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants are school-based and community-based providers that are working on a full-time basis at an approved eligible practice site. Complete lists of eligible providers and facilities are available in the application instructions.

Amount of funding

Up to $300,000 over a period of up to 10 years

Initial 2-year agreement amounts are determined by dividing the amount of eligible debt, up to the $300,000 maximum, by the 10 years of eligible program participation and multiplying by 2.
